भारत में मिले कोरोना वैरिएंट कहलाएंगे जाएंगे डेल्टा और कप्पा
नई दिल्ली। विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) ने सबसे पहले भारत में पाए गए कोरोना वायरस के वैरिएंट बी.1.617.1 और बी.1.617.2 को कप्पा और डेल्टा नाम दिया है। डब्ल्यूएचओ ने सोमवार को इसका ऐलान करते हुए कहा कि उसने कोरोना वायरस के विभिन्न स्वरूपों के नामकरण के लिए यूनानी अक्षरों का सहारा लिया है।
डब्ल्यूएचओ की कोविड-19 तकनीकी मामलों की प्रमुख डॉ मारिया वान केरखोव ने सोमवार को ट्वीट किया, डब्ल्यूएचओ ने कोरोना वायरस के स्वरूपों के आसानी से पहचाने जाने के लिए उनका नया नामकरण किया है। इनके वैज्ञानिक नामों में कोई बदलाव नहीं होगा। हालांकि, इसका उद्देश्य आम बहस के दौरान इनकी आसानी से पहचान करना है।
डब्ल्यूएचओ ने एक बयान में कहा कि डब्ल्यूएचओ द्वारा निर्धारित एक विशेषज्ञ समूह ने वायरस के स्वरूपों को सामान्य बातचीत के दौरान आसानी से समझने के लिए अल्फा, गामा, बीटा गामा जैसे यूनानी शब्दों का उपयोग करने की सिफारिश की ताकि आम लोगों को भी इनके बारे में होने वाली चर्चा को समझने में परेशानी न हो।
